An Emirates airplane flying from Dubai severely hit at least 39 flamingos in India's financial capital, Mumbai on Tuesday (May 21).
The flight EK-508, carrying over 300 passengers, landed safely despite the collision, but the bodies of several dead flamingos were found scattered in the Ghatkopar region of Mumbai.
The incident was reported by residents after injured flamingos fell and damaged the ceilings and roofs of houses in the locality.
The forest department officials carried out an investigation with the local municipal body and found mutilated parts of the birds strewn over different areas.
The carcasses of the birds were taken by forest officials for post mortem, however, the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
