  • Story Text: People in the Ivory Coast capital city of Abidjan turned out in a festival atmosphere on Saturday (June 9) to celebrate the presence of Didier Drogba, captain of the national soccer team and striker for English soccer club Chelsea, after he was named African Footballer Of The Year in March.
    Thousands of supporters gathered in the Houphouet Boigny stadium to celebrate with their national hero.
    ''What you have just done today, what you have been doing for years, for me, for the players, it is huge. It is huge, it is fantastic! Because of you I find the strength everyday on the field to give you the best of myself,'' said Drogba to supporters packed in the stadium.
