- Story Text: A group of international experts in the protection of tropical forests gathered in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast to meet and lecture to delegates from five african nations this week.
The experts from the International Union of Forestry Research Institutes spoke to forestry officials from Nigeria, Ghana, Madagascar, Cameroun as well as the Ivory Coast.
On Wednesday (19 February) the delegates travelled to the Yapo experimental forest, about 80 km (50 miles) north of Abidjan, to watch a demonstration of methods of impregnating wood by replacing the sap.
Later, they were lectured on the principles involved by experts form the United States, West Germany, France, the United Kingdom Australia, and New Zealand.
