- Story Text: Christmas came early to music fans in London with an all-star line up of artists The Black Eyed Peas, Duffy and Nicole Scherzinger to the Jingle Bell Ball hosted by radio station Capital FM on Saturday (December 4).
The Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am lent his support to friend British singer Cheryl Cole who divorced from husband, the soccer player Ashley Cole, earlier this year.
Cheryl Cole who is currently a judge on Britain's popular reality television show X-Factor is hoping to take her talents to Los Angeles where she will work on her music career.
"Oh she's happy. She's one of the strongest women I've ever met. When she goes to LA she'll be surrounded by a lot of talent folk. I'm going to introduce her to cool friends so she could make it a home," Will.I.Am told Reuters Television backstage before their performance.
When asked whether he would consider being more than just friends with Cole, he replied: "You just don't do that to friends when they're recovering, be like 'Hey baby, let me swoop in there now that you're in a vulnerability state. You relay don't know what's going on right now' you don't do that."
Fellow BEP's singer APL.DE.AP joked "I'll date her!"
The group are back with their sixth studio album "The Beginning" following on from last year's "The E.N.D."
When asked about the wave of popularity over dance music in the United States, Will.I.Am said it was history repeating itself: "I just think it's popular now because the industry fell apart and there's no record stores in America so the only place music exists now is in a club. So it's like hip-hop in the 80s when it went from vinyl to tape and the record industry was shaky because they were bootlegging, they were doing double cassette tapes, disco took off."
British singer Taio Cruz scored two no. 1 hits in the U.S., a rarity for a relatively new UK artist. But when asked which women he preferred better in the U.S. or UK, he replied: "I'm in LA a lot so in LA, it's hot, women are wearing less, that's always fun."
He also added that his Christmas wish was to have a young actress under the mistletoe this year: "I think she just got married but Megan Fox, please. If you put Megan Fox under my Christmas tree I'll be a very good boy."
Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls who's currently going solo said she was wrapping up a week of excitement for her new single.
"I got to perform on X-Factor last Sunday which was cool, it was the first time I did Poison and I got to play with Poison a lot this week and then I'm excited to play some old Pussycat Dolls songs for the PCD fans out there. And this week I've been on a high and this is the perfect way to end my whole week, with Poison," she said.
The singer, who's currently dating British Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton, remain tight-lipped when asked questions about the sportsman.
A boisterous Duffy took to the red carpet to talk about her new album "Endlessly" and new single "Well Well Well". With six million albums sold in the UK alone for her last album, the Welsh singer said she doesn't think about the positive responses she's had on her music.
"I think success is non-tangible. You don't own it. It's of you. It gets given to you. So I guess for me my life hasn't changed. I'm still doing music so I don't think about the fact that I'm successful really."
Breakthrough boyband The Wanted said they were thankful for the past 365 days when just the year before, they were fans seeking autographs from last year's stars at the Jingle Bell Ball.
"It was weird, we were just upstairs getting food and people were asking us for pictures and I thought 'I stood in this very place last year,'" said Tom Parker.
"And now we're on it. It's been a mad year but the best year of my life anyway," added Max George.
Singer Cee-Lo was scheduled to perform on Saturday but was held back in Amsterdam.
Proceeds for the event go to Help A London Child.
