- Story Text: Saudi star defender Hamad al Montashari feels well prepared for his countries first match of the World Cup against Tunisia, al Montashari told Reuters on Tuesday (June 6) before his squad´s training session at the Waldstadion in Bad Nauheim.
"If god will, we will be ready within the next few days. We actually are ready now, but we will be completely prepared for the match against Tunisia within the next two days", al Montashari said.
Things got off to a good start for the Saudis when they thrashed Bad Nauheim XI 15-0 in a FIFA World Cup warm-up on Sunday (June 4) with star striker Sami Al Jaber in fine scoring form, bagging seven goals.
The Saudis had lost 2-0 to Czech Republic and 1-0 to Turkey in previous warm-ups and, although the opponents were modest, it was useful target practice for the finals.
Mohammed Al Anbar got four goals and Mohammad Al Shlhoub completed a hat-trick, including the 15th goal in the final minute. The Saudis next warm-up is against the reserve side of Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Saudis, coached by Brazilian Marcos Paqueta, play Group H opponents Tunisia on 14 June, Ukraine on 19 June and Spain four days later. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
