- Story Text: Saudi Arabia's caretaker coach Mohammad al-Kharashi has had his first training session with the team followingthe sacking of Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira.
Mohammad Al-Kharashi said on Tuesday (June 23) that his team would try to play their best soccer when they face South Africa on Wednesday (June 24) in Bordeaux.
On Saturday (June 20), Saudi Arabia sacked Parreira for failing to take the team into the second round. The Saudis have lost both their group C games, 4-0 to France and 1-0 to Denmark.
To progress to the second round South Africa need to score a good win over Saudi Arabia and rely on France beating Denmark.
With nothing more than pride at stake, the new coach said he was trying to get his team to give a good performance, regardless of South Africa's chances of qualifying.
