- Story Text: Italian based fashion designer Jamal Taslaq shows off his latest collection in the Jordanian capital, Amman. Taslaq is of Palestinian origin, but studied in and works out of Italy.
Sashaying down the catwalk, models showed off Palestinian-born, Italian-based designer Jamal Taslaq's recent collection.
Taslaq studied in Italy where he also started his career as a designer. He focusses on luxury garments, evening wear and bridal collections.
Inspiration for his recent collection came from the ancient buildings and rock formations of Petra in the Jordanian desert, and it was evident in his choice of backdrop and colour palette which included sandy yellows, orange and shades of pink and red.
Models walked down the catwalk draped in luxury fabrics and embellished garments against a backdrop of images of the rock-engraved city.
Taslaq said he visited Petra during different times of year, which helped him come up with his designs.
"The silk I used was inspired by the colours of Petra. Indeed, I have visited Petra frequently, in autumn, summer and winter. Each season the city has different and magnificent colours. This helped me produce this show in Rome and I always hoped to stage the show in the land of Petra, Jordan," said Taslaq.
Among the designs being modelled was a red trouser suit, with cut-outs in the blazer, an off the shoulder pink evening dress and a bridal gown with a long floor sweeping veil.
Taslaq has showcased his designs in countries around the world, such as Dubai, USA, Romania and Azerbaijan. His inaugural show was in Rome, Italy in 2000.
His lavish designs have also been shown in cities across Italy including one of the world's fashion capitals, Milan. He also has a shop in rome which sells his bridal wear.
Taslaq's latest collection was shown to fashionistas in Rome ahead of the catwalk show in the Jordanian capital. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
