- Story Text: Authorities in India's southern Mangaluru on Sunday (March 16) provided succour to zoo animals from increasing temperatures with water sprays, ventilation and summer fruits.
Zoo attendants were seen spraying tigers, black swans and hippos with water as temperatures soared in the country.
The Pilikula Biological Park, covering an area of 82 hectares, consists of enclosures designed to closely resemble the animals' natural habitat.
"Since it is summer, there are seasonal fruits which have high water content and are very nutritious. So, we are provide those, for example is watermelon to hippos and our birds." said a veterinary officer in the park.
