- Story Text:Police have cordoned off a night club in the small North Macedonian town of Kocani on Sunday (March 16) after a fire ripped through the packed building in the early hours of the morning, leaving at least 59 people dead and more than 100 injured.
One video from the event, verified by Reuters, showed a band playing on stage flanked by two flares firing white sparks into the air, some of which set the ceiling alight.
State news agency Mia reported that police have detained the owner of the club over the incident.
North Macedonia's Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski said five prosecutors would investigate the incident.
