- Story Text: Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Tajikistani counterpart Emomali Rahmon at Grand Kremlin Palace on Monday (March 17).
Putin congratulated Rahmon who is on official visit to Moscow with his People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan win at parliamentary election on March 2. The ruling party enjoys overwhelming majority at Majlisi Namoyandagon, lower house of the national legislature, with 47 seats out of 63.
Russian leader repeated his invitation to Tajikistani counterpart to attend celebrations of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Tajikistan is a member of the Russian-lead defence and security block of six post-Soviet states, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
Last week Putin met his another ally, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko whose country is also a CSTO member.
