- Story Text:Former Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob appeared at the country's anti-graft agency for questioning on Thursday (March 13) over corruption and money laundering allegations related to a government-funded publicity project under his administration.
Anti-graft investigators previously questioned him in January last year examining claims of misconduct linked to some 700 million ringgit ($157 million) spent on government publicity during his administration.
Ismail spent around five hours providing a statement to the anti-graft agency at its headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday, with a source from the agency informing local media that the former prime minister would be summoned again on Friday (March 14).
The anti-graft agency has also detained four senior officials who served under Ismail Sabri and conducted raids at four premises. Cash amounting to 170 million ringgit ($38.34 million) in various currencies and 16 kilogrammes of gold bars were seized following the raids, the agency added.
