  • Story Text: Thousands of Colombians took to the streets of Bogota on Tuesday (March 18) to support President Gustavo Petro's government-proposed health and labor reforms.
    Supporters of President Petro marched through the streets of Bogota, waving Colombian flags and carrying banners calling for the approval of the reform of both laws.
    The call for mobilization followed significant hurdles faced by the labor reform bill in Congress.
    Last week, Petro said he would call a national referendum so that voters can weigh in on his embattled reforms amid a lack of support for the proposals in the country's legislature.
    The long-stalled health sector reform aims to strip insurers of power and expand access to healthcare, while the labor reform would reduce working hours and boost overtime pay.
