  • Story Text: The award-winning opera "Sun & Sea" delighted Colombian fans in Bogota on Thursday night (March 20).
    The Lithuanian show took the beach inside to Bogota’s National Centre for the Arts stage, where it kicked off the second edition of the Festival NO Convencional (Non-Conventional Festival), an initiative to present shows in unexpected places.
    The piece, which was awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019, addresses issues such as climate change and impending ecological disasters with touches of humour and irony.
    "We hear too often in the news bad news about ecology, about the collapse of the planet, so, we didn’t want that, we wanted to talk about it but in a cheerful way," said director Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė.
    The show features the special participation of the National Choir of Colombia.
    "Sun & Sea" has toured Asia, Europe, the United States and South America.
