  • Story Text: Ukraine coach Serhiy Rebrov paid tribute to his country´s troops on Wednesday (March 19) ahead of their Nations League match against Belgium.
    During a pre-match news conference on the same day that U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskiy to seek a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, Rebrov expressed his desire to honour the soldiers fighting for his country.
    He emphasized that the team is aware that every match they play represents more than just a soccer game.
    Center-back Ilya Zabarnyi echoed his coach's words, saying they hope to bring some joy to their compatriots during tough times.
    Ukraine is fighting for promotion to Division A of the UEFA Nations League through the playoffs.
    They will play Belgium on Thursday (March 20) in Murcia, Spain due to the ongoing conflict in their country.
