- Story Text: Juan Antonio Samaranch's is already an IOC Vice President, and one of the favourites to make it all the way to the top job itself.
The 65-year-old Spaniard, an IOC member since 2010, says his background in business and sports administration makes him the ideal candidate to replace his close colleague Thomas Bach.
And he firmly rejects suggestions of nepotism, despite being the son of former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch Snr, who ran the Olympic movement from 1980 to 2001.
* Claimed in his manifesto that the IOC must extend the retirement age of its members to 75 and is a proponent of protecting women in sports, seeking " unambiguous distinctions between men's and women's categories".
* With banking experience under his belt, Samaranch also wants the IOC to use its insights to establish a $1 billion investment fund where investors will provide the necessary capital.
