Ukrainian boxer and heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk visited a heavily damaged power station "to give people energy", as Russia and Ukraine accused each other of launching air attacks that sparked fires and damaged infrastructure.
Usyk's visit took place on Monday (March 17) and was embargoed by the organisers for security reasons.
Putin agreed to temporarily stop attacking Ukrainian energy facilities but declined to endorse a full 30-day ceasefire sought by U.S. President Donald Trump in a telephone call with the Russian leader on Tuesday (March 18).
In a press release, private energy company DTEK, the owner of the undisclosed power station, said nearly 30 GW of generation capacity had been lost due to Russian strikes since the start of the war.
It added that 76 DTEK energy workers have been wounded and five killed in Russian attacks "while performing their professional duties."
