- Story Text: The leaders of France and Jordan called for a halt of hostilities in Gaza and a political solution to the conflict on Wednesday (March 19).
Jordan's King Abdullah was in Paris meeting French President Emmanuel Macron, calling for the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza to be restored and for aid flows to resume.
Macron said that negotiations between Israel and Hamas over the crisis in Gaza had to be back on the table.
Israeli strikes killed at least 10 Palestinians in Gaza on Wednesday, local health workers said, as the Israeli military restarted its bombardments and issued new orders for residents to evacuate combat zones.
On Tuesday (March 18), Israeli airstrikes killed more than 400 people, according to Palestinian health authorities, in one of the highest single-day death tolls since the beginning of conflict, ending weeks of relative calm since a ceasefire in January.
