  • Story Text:The presence of NHL players at next year's winter Olympics is helping to drive ticket sales, the organisers of the Milan-Cortina event said on Thursday (March 20).
    Speaking on the sidelines of the IOC election in Greece, Giovanni Malago, the president of the committee in charge of staging the games described the participation of NHL players as a 'huge opportunity'.
    Players from the NHL - many of them regarded as among the best in the world - have not featured at a games since 2014.
    At the 2018 Olympics no agreement could be made between the NHL and organisers, while in 2022 the Covid-19 pandemic meant players could not be released due to the league schedule.
