- Story Text: Pride, excitement, and Mariachi music filled the entrance to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Thursday (March 20) as the Concacaf Nations League knockout stage kicked off.
Fans gathered outside the stadium, holding their countries' flags, singing and dancing in preparation for the semifinals.
“I’m here for both the U.S. and Mexico, and hopefully, we’ll see a Mexico-U.S. final on Sunday. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Fernando Mendoza from El Paso, Texas.
While Canadian and Panamanian fans were also present, Mexican and U.S. supporters showed clear enthusiasm, with fans from both sides hoping for a repeat of last year’s tournament. At one point, fans of the two teams exchanged cheers in a friendly pre-match gathering.
Among many fans, the USA is still the favorite to advance and win the trophy, as they have dominated the tournament since its inception.
