- Story Text: China stocks fell and Hong Kong stocks closed more than 2% lower on Thursday (March 20) as investors turned wary of short-term volatility following a surge in tech stocks and the Hang Seng Index hitting a three-year high.
Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng index declined 2.23%, its biggest daily drop in March, closing at 24,219.95.
China's Shanghai Composite index was down 17.48 points or 0.51% at 3,408.95.
