- Story Text: Members of the Catholic faithful gathered at the Basilica San Jose de Flores in Buenos Aires on Sunday (March 23), the church where Pope Francis began his career, to celebrate the pontiff's discharge from hospital.
Among the attendees, Milagros Centeno expressed confidence in divine support for the pope's continued strength.
Francis, 88, was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital on February 14 with a severe respiratory infection that became the most serious health crisis of his 12-year papacy.
The pope's doctors said on Saturday (March 22) it would still take "a lot of time" for his ageing body to fully heal, and said they had prescribed the pontiff a further two months of rest at the Vatican. Before leaving the hospital on Sunday, Francis smiled and waved at a group of well-wishers gathered outside.
