- Story Text: Expelled South African ambassador to the United States, Ebrahim Rasool, returned to Cape Town on Sunday (March 23) after being ousted by the Trump administration nine days ago for making crotroversial remarks about US President Donald Trump.
Rasool, who received numerous farewells across the city just three months ago, was welcomed back by many of those well-wishers. The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape, where Rasool previously served as Premier, were amongst those greeting him at Cape Town International Airport.
Ties between the two countries have slumped since Trump cut U.S. financial aid to South Africa, citing disapproval of its land policy and its genocide case against Washington's ally Israel at the International Court of Justice.
