  • Story Text: Drone footage from India's southern Tamil Nadu state on Sunday (March 23) showed the 'New Pamban Bridge', country's first vertical lift sea bridge after completion of its construction.
    The new railway bridge, spanning 2.05 kilometres (1.27 miles), will connect southern Rameswaram island to the mainland in Tamil Nadu state.
    The new bridge was seen amid serene blue waters, as its old counterpart, built in 1914 and thus, a relic of India's colonial times, stood by the modern structure.
    The new bridge is expected to be operational by April.
