- Story Text:The first planes landed at London's Heathrow airport after 1900 GMT on Friday (March 21), after an earlier fire knocked out its power supply and shut Europe's busiest airport for the day, stranding thousands of passengers and causing travel turmoil worldwide.
Two planes with British Airways livery landed at 19:08 GMT and 19:11 GMT.
The first arrived from Manchester airport in northwest England, while the second came from nearby Gatwick airport south of London, according to Flightradar24 data.
Heathrow said its teams had worked tirelessly to reopen the world's fifth-busiest airport after it was forced to close entirely after a huge fire engulfed a substation near the airport on Thursday night (March 20), with travellers told to stay away.
Heathrow said there would be a limited number of flights on Friday, mostly focused on relocating aircraft and bringing planes into London.
