- Story Text: Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was treated to a military welcome ceremony at Japan's Imperial Palace on Tuesday (March 25).
He was greeted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, who extended a warm welcome to Lula and his wife, Rosangela "Janja" da Silva. The Japanese military honoured them with a Guard of Honour at the palace.
Lula arrived in Japan on Monday (March 24) for a four-day state visit, accompanied by a large business delegation of 100 members, as Brazil seeks to strengthen trade ties with Japan amidst U.S. tariffs.
The visit aims to expand business partnerships and discuss investments and cooperation in various strategic areas, highlighting the relevance of this visit to the strengthening of bilateral relations between Brazil and Japan.
