The family of Oscar winner Hamdan Ballal have recalled the moment of the raid on Monday (March 24) during which a local official alleges the director was injured and arrested.
Hamdan Ballal’s wife, Lamia Ballal, told Reuters the house where they were gathering was besieged, and settlers attacked and beat her husband.
His mother, Hamdi Ballal, said children were shouting inside, and his blood could be seen on the ground.
The co-director of the award-winning "No Other Land," was attending a gathering for Iftar, the end of the daily Ramadan fast, at Susiya village near Hebron, when a group of settlers attacked the gathering, said Jihad Nawajaa, head of the Susiya local council.
Israeli police arrested three men, including Ballal, who was injured during the standoff, he said.
Anna Lippman, an American-Canadian from a group called the Center for Jewish Nonviolence, said her group had been attacked by settlers after arriving in the village around 15 minutes after the attack began.
Dashcam video showed settlers throwing stones on the vehicle, while video captured by Lippman showed a stand-off with settlers in Susiya.
The location and date of the eyewitness videos were verified by original file metadata which included coordinates and creation time.
Those seen in the dashcam video are also present in the eyewitness videos along with a tree, verifying its location. A timestamp verifies the date and time.
Monday's incident was the latest in which Israeli settlers have been accused of raiding Palestinian or Bedouin villages and encampments in the West Bank, sometimes to steal livestock. Palestinians and activists who monitor such attacks say the police and army typically stand by without intervening.
