- Story Text:India's western Rajasthan joined the small list of places to be successful in captive breeding of Ostrich bird species.
The latest addition to the state's famous Jaipur Zoo was seen walking in the enclosure, as its mother brooded the remaining 10 eggs yet to hatch.
According to zoo authorities, the mother laid 11 eggs on the eve of colour festival, 'Holi'.
Ostrich, a bird species native to Africa, is difficult to breed in captive conditions where habitat conditions are bound to vary.
"The Ostrich was acclimatised to the climactic conditions in the Jaipur Zoo's habitat'" said an official associated with the local forest department.
Zoo authorities and visitors are keeping a close eye, as hopes remain high for more hatchlings. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
