- Story Text:The families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas on Saturday (March 22) called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a new hostage deal and ceasefire in Gaza.
Netanyahu's decision to resume the Gaza war on Tuesday (March 18) while 59 hostages - around 24 of whom are believed to be alive - are still held inside the enclave, has added fresh momentum to anti-government rallies.
Protesters have accused Netanyahu's administration of continuing the conflict for political reasons.
Israel has resumed bombing and ground operations in the Gaza Strip as it presses the Palestinian militant group Hamas to free the remaining hostages.
At least 130 Palestinians were killed and 263 wounded in the past 48 hours of Israel's offensive, the Palestinian enclave's health ministry said on Saturday.
Tuesday's first day of resumed airstrikes killed more than 400 Palestinians, one of the deadliest days of the 17-month-old conflict, with scant let-up since then.
