- Story Text: Arsenal manager Renee Slegers said they will go into the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final with a balanced approach after losing the first leg 2-0 at Real Madrid's Alfredo di Stefano Stadium last week.
“We want a balance tomorrow. So obviously, we're aware of Real Madrid's threats as well. But we know what we need to do tomorrow. So, we try to make the right decisions and we have a lot of quality in the squad both from a starting and a finishing perspective,” Slegers told a press conference on Tuesday (March 25).
After criticizing pitch conditions at a rain-soaked Alfredo di Stefano Stadium at last week’s first leg, Slegers said their style of play is better suited to Emirates Stadium where Arsenal will host the second leg on Wednesday (March 26).
“We have a style of play where we want to be on the ball a lot. Where we want to move the ball, passes and of course, it's going to be easier on a golf course than on rocks.
“If the competition rules say that this pitch is clear to play, then we have to play on it and we have to deal with it. But yeah, we like good pitches. I think any team does,” she said.
