- Story Text:South Korea's acting President Han Duck-soo said he would expend all effort to safeguarding the country's national interest amid a global trade war, during a speech he made on Monday (March 24) after he was reinstated to his position by the Constitutional Court.
Earlier on Monday, the Court struck down an impeachment motion against Han and restored his powers, marking the latest twist in the country's recent political turmoil after his impeachment as acting president more than two months ago.
Han took over as acting leader from President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was himself impeached over a short-lived declaration of martial law in December last year.
Han lasted less than two weeks in the post and was impeached and suspended on December 27 after clashing with the opposition-led parliament by refusing to appoint three more justices to the Constitutional Court.
