- Story Text:Israel's police chief visiting the site of a ramming and shooting attack that killed one person on Monday (March 24) said the assailant was an Israeli citizen from the country's Arab minority.
Police forces arrived at the scene of the attack in northern Israel shortly after the attacker rammed his car into a bus stop where an Israeli soldier was waiting, stabbed him and grabbed his rifle and started shooting at passing cars, killing one person inside his vehicle, according to Israeli police.
The assailant was then 'neutralised' by a border police force.
Chief Superintendent Daniel Levy, head of Israel's police, told journalists at the scene that the attack came amid heightened security and wider deployment of security forces during the month of Ramadan.
