- Story Text:Palestinian worshippers coming from West Bank cities arrived at Israeli checkpoint in Bethlehem on Wednesday (March 26), hoping to cross to attend Laylat al-Qadr in al-Aqsa mosque.
Worshippers, some of whom were seen sitting on ground, said they have been waiting for hours to pass.
For many Muslims, Ramadan - and especially Laylat Al-Qadr, or Night of Power - is an opportunity to enhance one's willpower and begin a journey of spiritual growth through prayers.
It commemorates the night that the prophet Mohammed is believed to have received the first verses of the Quran.
Al-Aqsa, which lies at the heart of Jerusalem's old city, is Islam's third holiest site and is known to Jews as Temple Mount.
