- Story Text: Brazil hosted a training program on Tuesday (March 25) for regional military and civilian groups to enhance their preparedness for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear emergencies, anticipating several international events in the country.
The Non-Conventional Threats (NCT) South America 2025 event, hosted in Rio de Janeiro, attracted specialists from numerous countries. The agenda comprised demonstrations, equipment displays, lectures, and practical exercises addressing potential threats.
The Brazilian Army, in partnership with the event organizers, facilitated the program at a fort near Copacabana Beach from March 25 to 27.
The training on Tuesday included a simulated chemical attack on a convoy, incorporating victim evacuation and decontamination, and the restoration of the affected area.
The event aims to fortify readiness for significant international events in Brazil, including the BRICS summit, COP30, and the 2027 Women's World Cup.
Participants included the Brazilian Army, public security agencies, and representatives from institutions such as the Brazilian Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
