- Story Text: Various sports competitions and recreational activities are happening in one place in Libya's Misrata during Ramadan, as part of a youth-driven and self-funded initiative under the name of 'Al-Hilal Challenge'.
The idea started with a group of young people who wanted to organize challenges during the nights of the Muslim fasting month. They sought assistance from the Dialogue and Debate Organization, which provided its headquarters for holding the festive Ramadan nights.
The event was widely welcomed and attended by Libyans from all over the country, in addition to a young crowd from Iftar to Suhoor.
One visitor, Imad Shaqqan, said young Libyans were accustomed to playing soccer only, but the Al-Hilal Challenge presented "something new" to them.
'Al-Hilal' (Arabic for Crescent) challenge features various competitions including arm wrestling, pool, table soccer and the traditional Libyan card game of 'Shkouba'.
