- Story Text:China said on Thursday (March 27) it was willing to work with France on promoting the development of relations between the two countries, as Chinese Premier Li Qiang met French foreign minister Jean-Nobel Barrot at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Barrot’s meeting came after he met with counterpart Wang Yi earlier in the day, during which they agreed to hold three high-level dialogues on strategic, economic, financial and cultural issues this year.
“As we all know, the world is not a peaceful and unstable place. As two independent and responsible powers, China and France should strengthen their cooperation and inject more certainty into the relationship between the two countries and the world through our cooperation,” said Li.
Barrot is in China on a two-day visit that ends on Friday (March 28)
The visit comes as U.S. President Donald Trump upends global trade by imposing, or threatening to impose, tariffs on trading partners including the European Union and China.
