According to witnesses, several buildings have collapsed in Myanmar’s second largest city of Mandalay. A skyscraper under construction collapsed in Bangkok, the Thai capital, while buildings also shook. Trading on the stock exchange was halted.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said had a 7.7 magnitude and was at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
The epicenter was about 17.2 km (10.7 miles) from the ancient Myanmar capital of Mandalay, which has a population about 1.2 million, according to USGS.
