- Story Text: Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Friday (March 28) called on the United States to reconsider new tariffs on goods from Europe announced by President Donald Trump and to open a dialogue with the European Commission to "stop this nonsense."
Trump said on Wednesday (March 27) the United States will charge a 25% tariff on all cars not made in the country and that the new duties on cars and light trucks imported into the U.S. will be permanent.
On Thursday, the European Commission said the European Union is preparing a "robust, calibrated" response.
"Today, from here, I would like to call once again on the U.S. administration to come to its senses and to enter into a dialogue with the European Commission to stop this nonsense," Sanchez said in a speech in Madrid.
