- Story Text: Hundreds took to the streets in the Pakistani cities of Karachi and Islamabad on Friday (March 28) to mark al-Quds Day, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and rallying against Israel.
Protestors held Palestinian flags and banners to show support for Palestinians in Gaza, while some children wore shrouds covered in mock blood, symbolising the children killed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Others held signs reading “Zionism=Terrorism” and “Our Pakistani armed forces must help Hamas.”
Al-Quds Day was launched by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, and is held on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
