- Story Text: Buddhist monks in India's northern Sarnath town of Varanasi district held a special prayer session for Myanmar-Thailand earthquake victims on Sunday (March 30).
Monks from different countries including Thailand, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka gathered at Mulagandha Kuti Vihar Temple to recite prayers for those affected by the disaster.
The 7.7-magnitude earthquake on Friday (March 28) wreaked mass devastation in Myanmar and caused damage and deaths in neighbouring Thailand.
The U.S. Geological Service's predictive modelling estimated Myanmar's death toll could eventually exceed 10,000 and losses could exceed the country's annual economic output. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
