  • Story Text:Russia will station more military personnel in the Arctic, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday (March 27).
    Putin said Russia would defend its interests in the region. He was speaking at the International Arctic Forum in Russia's northern city of Murmansk.
    Russia was concerned that "NATO countries in general are increasingly designating the Far North as a springboard for possible conflicts", he said, and Russia was monitoring the situation and preparing an appropriate response.
