- Story Text:U.S. Oscar-winning actor Viola Davis was among the stars at the London premiere of "G20” on Tuesday (April 1).
The action film, directed by Patricia Riggen, tells the story of President Danielle Sutton (Davis) who attends a G20 summit in South Africa. But it goes wrong when a group of terrorists take those at the conference hostage - and it's down to Sutton to use her military combat skills to save the other 19 world leaders and her family.
“I think a lot of times with women, we feel that, especially in this business, our bodies are just adornment. That it's just for male desirability. And I love feeling strong and capable because that's how I felt when I was six,” Davis said in an interview with Reuters. “When I was six, I wasn't thinking, ‘I'm cute, how much do I weigh?’ I wanted to beat up the biggest boy in the field. And I want to take him down. And I felt like I could do it. No one told me I couldn't. So, it's like awakening the inner child.”
Davis and her husband, actor and producer Julius Tennon’s production company, JuVee Productions, is responsible for “G20”.
Riggen was amongst those in attendance - alongside actors Douglas Hodge (who plays the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom) and Tennon, who stars as the director of America's Central Intelligence Agency.
“G20” will start streaming globally on Prime Video from April 10.
