- Story Text:Muslims in India celebrated Eid al-Fitr and marked the end of their month-long fasting by offering prayers at mosques across the country on Monday (March 31).
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims observe intense prayers and fast during the day for an entire month.
Devotees in India’s northern Agra city offered prayers with the backdrop of the scenic, 17th-century white marble mausoleum, Taj Mahal. Meanwhile, drone footage from central Bhopal city showed a sea of devotees offering prayers.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal, the 10th month in the Islamic calendar, with early morning prayers, family visits and feasts, often featuring a lavish spread of traditional delicacies.
