The once-serene Inle Lake, a picturesque location in Myanmar's Shan State, was transformed into a scene of devastation after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck, sending traditional wooden and bamboo homes crashing into the lake, videos showed on Monday (March 31).
Footage of the aftermath of the quake, revealed rows of homes tilting precariously in the lake, as several structures were partially submerged beneath the lake's surface.
The earthquake that struck around lunchtime on Friday (March 28), one of the strongest to hit Myanmar in a century, has damaged infrastructure including bridges, highways, airports and railways - hampering rescue efforts as a civil war rages on in the Southeast Asian nation.
The death toll has reached 2,065 with more than 3,900 injured and over 270 missing, the country's state television channel MRTV reported.
