- Story Text: In a press briefing held in Jerusalem today (April 1, 2025), Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar addressed the latest Israeli strikes in the Dahia district in Lebanon in the early hours of the morning.
Saar said the eliminated Hezbollah operative posed "a real and immediate threat."
"We expect Lebanon to take action to uproot terrorist organizations acting within its borders against Israel," he said. The war uprooted more than a million people and killed at least 3,768 people in Lebanon, according to a Lebanese health ministry toll from November. Dozens more have been reported killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire.
Saar also addressed the case of fifteen emergency and aid workers from the red crescent, the United Nations, and the Palestinian Civil Defense that were found buried in the sand in southern Gaza.
The bodies were discovered near wrecked and well-marked vehicles. Tom Fletcher, UN aid chief posted on X.
He further wrote, 'they were killed by Israeli forces while trying to save lives. We demand answers & justice.'
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged last Friday that it had fired on ambulances and fire engines, saying they had identified them as suspicious vehicles.
"The IDF did not randomly attack an ambulance, on last Sunday several uncoordinated vehicles were identified advancing suspiciously toward IDF troops without headlights or emergency signals. IDF troops then opened fire at suspected vehicles," he said in regards to the Israeli army statement.
Israel has faced international backlash in regards to the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza, and its continuing military activity in Lebanon. Many protests in Israel demand the return to the negotiations table to end the fighting and bring back the remaining 59 hostages still being held in Gaza. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
