- Story Text: Any new resources agreement with Ukraine should be compatible with European law, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during a farewell visit to Kyiv on Tuesday (April 1).
Asked about the possible minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States at a news conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, Baerbock said Europe had already reached a deal with Ukraine earlier.
Any new agreement should be compatible with EU law, she added.
Sybiha stressed that the agreement with the U.S., still in negotiations, "cannot in any way contradict our European integration path."
At an earlier news conference on Tuesday, the Ukrainian top diplomat said that his country will work with the U.S. towards a mutually acceptable text of a minerals deal that the two countries can sign.
