An explosion at firecracker factory in India left at least 18 dead on Tuesday (April 1) , according to local media.
"Eighteen people have lost their lives. The main reason is the collapse of a slab due to the explosion," said a senior police official.
While five workers were rescued from the blast site, many are still believed to be trapped under the debris.
A similar incident occurred on Monday night (March 31), after an explosion at a firecracker warehouse in West Bengal killed at least six people.
Industrial accidents, common in India, are often blamed on people flouting safety norms, as well as lax inspection by government officials.
