- Story Text: British anti-abortion activist arrived in court on Friday (April 4), awaiting a sentencing over alleged breach of a buffer zone outside a clinic in Bournemouth.
Livia Tossici-Bolt, 64, is accused of violating the law which makes it "illegal for anyone to do anything that intentionally or recklessly influences someone’s decision to use abortion services, obstructs them, or causes harassment or distress to someone using or working at these premises."
At the start of his term, U.S. Vice President JD Vance took a swipe at European governments for what he described as their censorship of free speech and their political opponents. Speaking to European political leaders, military officers and diplomats at the Munich Security Conference in February, Vance adopted a confrontational tone, accusing European politicians of what he said was a fear of their own people and warned them that the real threat against their democracy was not from Russia or China.
The U.S. State Department said in a post on X they are "monitoring her case."
