- Story Text: Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlaender received Germany’s Westphalian Peace Prize for her lifetime achievement on Friday (April 04). The 103-year-old survivor said during her acceptance speech that she was speaking for all people who have been murdered because their humanity was not respected.
"There is no Christian blood, no Muslim blood, no Jewish blood, there is only human blood. We are all the same. Be human beings,” she said.
After 64 years spent in New York, the widowed Friedlaender decided to move back to Germany in 2010 to pass her message to the younger generation, engaging in school visits and other events. Former U.S president Joe Biden called her “a voice of conscience and healing”.
