  • Story Text: All eyes will be on Alex Ovechkin Friday (April 4) as the Washington Capitals forward closes in on Wayne Gretzky's NHL career goals record at a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
    The 39-year-old needs just two goals to equal Gretzky's record of 894 and a hat trick in front of home fans at Capital One Arena would put the Russian winger alone atop the record book.
    Ovechkin has scored in three straight games and four of the last five and has seven games remaining in the regular season before the record would have to wait for next season.
