- Story Text: A large crowd was at Chinoyi airport on December 20 to welcome the Ethiopian Head of State, Lieutenant-Colonel Mengistu Haile Mariam, on his visit there during a five-day official stay in Zimbabwe. Accompanied by Zimbabwe Prime Minister Robert Mugabe, the Ethiopian leader waved to the crowds who were there to greet him. He and Mr. Mugabe were then driven to the Chinoyi stadium for a political rally which was attended by hundreds of people. Here, both leaders addressed the cheering throng. Mr Mugabe told the crowd the Zimbabwe liberation struggle had not been for his people alone but for all of Africa. Through his interpreter Lieutenant-Colonel Mengistu, said this struggle must continue until colonialism and apartheid had been stamped out.
